HEART had a long journey ahead to Steelwarship. and his rations were getting low. The thrusters were losing power more and more and he could hear the engine wheezing like a smoker on his last cigarette.
He had to do something and do something fast or he'd be spending his time in space with no defense. Since it was a lengthy trip, HEART had begun making modifications on his Mech. twisting a wire or two and adding this component and that gave him a semi-new weapon to use along with his shotgun. He called it "Blazedance". So named for the firey power it should output.
Just as he began to gather his thoughts, the cabin alarm went off. Alarm! Alarm! Looking at his radar monitor, he could only see a small cluster of something apparently moving into a direct path with him. Frantically pushing the alarm off, he noticed it was a small army of StarFighters using full thruster capacity. Great, he thought.
Arming his Shotgun and ammo, what little he had, he knew the chances for survival would be slim unless he could think of something fast. On his way he had noticed a Depot, but had decided to take a chance on reaching SteelWarship instead of stopping for supplies. Now he was kicking himself. It was already too far to go back and he knew he had to beat those demons. "ok buddy, lets see what ya got", HEARTLESS had a card up his sleeve.
HEART decided to wait until the right moment to implement his new skill. Although this would be his first time to use it, he had hoped it wouldnt end in his untimely death. Slowly he watched his onboard monitor with his thumb resting softly on the execute button. There were only around twelve or so of those demons, but he wanted to make sure they were hostile before acting on impulse.
So far they hadnt shot, and he knew they could see him as he could see them. Slowly and steadily they approached him and he was getting nervous. HEARTS thumb began to trimmer with anticipation. He knew it would be at any moment and there would be a shootout, someone would die.
Something caught his eye, something in the front of the lead StarFighter. THEY FIRED. HEART executed his "Blazedance". And in a few short shots the small army had been evaporated into thin air. Before he could move his mech, the damage had been done to his robot. The engines were now puttering and he could see the steam errupting from his now severly damaged thruster.
This was not good, as his worst fear had began to come true. fighting for air HEART began to feel dizzy. Setting the Navigate system to SteelWarship he feared he wouldnt make it in time. As he slumped into the control seat, his wifes rose came into his sight. HEARTLESS fell silent......
